What I did:

For ILL this week, Mrs Jang asked us to do it based on the Anton Casey case. I decided to write down my reflections on this case for the purpose of this ILL.

Reflection:

In my opinion, the Anton Casey case could be avoided if Mr Casey practiced a little more discretion before posting his opinions online. This is directly related to what we learnt in English Lesson on whether it is accepted to degrading remarks online. Because of his 15 second video, he lost his future and probably would not hold any important positions. Added top that, I believe that we as Singaporeans should also put in more thought before commenting on something. On Facebook, many Singaporeans retorted to the video by using vulgarities and degrading remarks against him and his family. To be fair, we should only hold Mr Casey accountable and not his family members as they had done nothing against us. Even if so, we also should not use vulgarities online as it will show us Singaporeans in a bad light. In my opinion, we should also forgive Mr Casey for his actions as it is human nature to make mistakes and we should bury the hatchet and move on.
