T1W2 Independent Learning Log

Date: 15th January 2014
Source: https://www.learnthat.org/pages/view/roots.html
Time: 2115-2145 hrs
What I did: I went to the page as mentioned above to read about the roots of words so that I do not have to check the dictionary to check the definition of a word if I do not know its meaning.
What I learned: The roots of words are either Greek or Latin. Here are some examples: capt, cept, ceive (Latin)- take, hold. Examples: intercept- to stop or interrupt, captivating-taking hold of; mania (Greek)- madness, insanity, excessive, desire. Examples: kleptomania- occasional desire to steal, mythomania- an abnormal desire to exaggerate or tell lies
